In 1926, Dr. Carter G. Woodson instituted the first week-long celebration to raise awareness of African Americans' contributions to history. Fifty years later, the week became a month, and today February is celebrated as African American History Month. The racial reckoning of 2020 and the emergence of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives within workplaces nationwide have led many organizations to critically examine their role in creating psychologically safe spaces for all employees, especially persons of color or marginalized communities.

As a result of launching DEI programming, many organizations are becoming more aware of the state of diversity in their organization and the often negative experiences of Black employees in the workplace, and are uncovering the harsh reality of inequity in their promotion policies, procedures, and hiring practices. A 2022 McKinsey study on the Black Experience at work found that 48% of Black workers agree that their race or ethnicity will make it harder to achieve their career goals at their current organization. Only 55% of Black workers believe their employers value diversity.

Join OurOffice this Black History month, with Sonya Sepahban moderating our discussion with Randy Corradine, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Youthcare, and Dr. Tiffany Ingram, DEI Advisor at OurOffice, about how organizational leaders can go beyond celebrating or acknowledging Black History month to examining the role of structural racism in the workplace and its impact on employees.

Executives and leaders, as well as HR and DEI professionals and champions across organizations of any type and size will benefit from learning about the following at this webinar:

  • The definition of structural racism and the context of how it manifests in the workplace in 2023.
  • Real-life stories as told by organizational leaders to shed light on what they do to dismantle structural racism in their workplaces.
  • The barriers to change and root causes of failure to avoid.

We look forward to seeing you at the webinar.
